OUR STORY
Welcome to In This Together Bucks CIC, where our dedication to creating a safer and more cohesive community is unwavering. Founded in 2021 by Afzaal Hussain and Adele Webb, our organization is deeply rooted in personal experience and a shared commitment to transformative change.
The origins of our organisation are both poignant and inspiring. Afzaal Hussain's best friend was tragically stabbed to death. Adele Webb, a member of the public who did not know Afzaal at the time, found his friend, called for an ambulance, performed CPR, and stayed with him until his last breath. This profound experience brought Adele and Afzaal together and inspired them to establish In This Together Bucks CIC, driven by their mutual resolve to prevent similar tragedies and support those affected by violence.
Afzaal, who also has lived experience, and Adele have been at the forefront of addressing both the immediate challenges and the underlying causes of knife crime. Since our establishment, we have taken a holistic approach to create transformative change in Aylesbury and beyond.
Our commitment extends to all those affected by violence, whether directly or indirectly. We offer mediation, mentoring, and support through various programs, including gang mediation, mentoring sessions for victims of violent crime, and assistance for survivors of domestic violence. Our tireless efforts have led to a significant reduction in anti-social behavior and crime in Aylesbury, fostering a greater sense of safety and security among residents.
Among our proudest achievements is the collection of over 1,000 knives in just three years. Through knife amnesty bins and proactive outreach initiatives, we have removed dangerous weapons from our streets and taken tangible steps toward preventing future tragedies. However, our work is far from complete. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a community where every individual can thrive.
